Grassroots

Our Philosophy

At KBH, we are passionate about the development of our players from grassroots to the Premier League, and offer a range of specialist coaching including the KBH Hockey Academy, Representative team trial preparation and Mini-Brumbies skills sessions. We take pride in our various Grassroots development programs available to players from U10 through to our top-age Junior teams.

Our aim is to ensure ALL junior players have their best possible hockey experience and have the opportunity to reach their full potential. To achieve this, we will provide the opportunity for each player to learn the basics of hockey (skills and match play), to allow them to enjoy their hockey. For those aiming higher we will provide an environment and access to training and coaches that will challenge and accelerate their development. Under the tutelage of Invited National Level specialist coaches, Hockey Australia Accredited coaches, our Premier League and high performance athletes, we aim to create an environment where athletes have a hunger for improvement and desire to be their best. Check out our programs on offer throughout the season!

Mentorship Program

The KBH Mentorship Program is a a self-run program organised, implemented and managed by the Premier League and Premier League Reserve squads. The sessions are run throughout the Junior Winter season, where senior players participate in drills and game-simulation training to help our young brumbies develop their game-awareness and refine their skills.

The program is designed to assign a Premier League player to each of our Juniors to be a buddy, mentor and friendly face around the club - helping our young talent feel supported and valued at KBH. With this program, we aim to strengthen the depth of our playing talent from the very beginning of our Junior hockey careers, with the guidance and tutelage of our Senior teams.
